Home Away from Home – Pin Style

For months, we have been trying to figure out how to meet up with other Disney people in North Carolina when we are away from Disneyland or Walt Disney World.  Recently, we found TriangleNCPinTraders on Facebook.  This is a fairly new group, having just obtained their 100th follower.  They have been holding regular meet-ups for trading and sharing and today we finally made it to one of their gatherings.

Meeting of Disney pin traders in Raleigh.  (our apologies for not getting everyone in the picture!)

So, without any hesitation we got ourselves down to the Crabtree Mall where they meet to purchase the latest from the Disney Store and then head to to food court for an hour of oohing and aahing over each other’s pins with a little trading in between.

It was nice to see so many people who are into Disney pins and other collectibles.  Some have small collections and others have very unique ones, but the group is open to all who love pins and trading.  We all had stories to tell about our Disney experiences and describing Continue Reading →

10 Magical Years

“Who’s the leader of the club…?”  We all know the answer to that question.  But did you know that it’s possible to be a member of the ultimate fan club?  If you consider yourself the “ultimate” fan, nerd, or geek, or just like to experience more of the Disney magic, then a membership in “D23 – The Official Fan Club” should be on your list.

Good Bye 60th Anniversary

They say that all good things must come to and end; and after months of great parties and special events celebrating Disneyland’s 60th anniversary, it all ends tonight, September 5, 2016.  The beautiful lights, shows, fireworks, and the make-over of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle celebrating a once-in-a-lifetime event will all be just a memory.  With that, we must say “Good Bye” to all that we have come to love over the past year.

Disney sure knows how to throw a shindig!  This magical celebration ran for more than 16 months, beginning on May 22, 2015, crossing into the actual anniversary date of July 17, 2015 and covering the 61st anniversary in July of this year.

The 60th Anniversary overlay of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle had to have been one of the best we have ever seen.  Every fall, the castle is decorated for Christmas, but nothing like this.  If you missed it, unfortunately it is gone forever and you may have to wait until the 75th Anniversary Continue Reading →

Pin Trading – the Hilton Head Way!

When people discuss something Disney, the conversations usually center on the parks, whether it be the ones in the U.S., or those located in other countries.  But Disney has other resorts that offer unique experiences, away from the hustle and bustle of a theme park.

Due to circumstances, we recently spent 10 days in South Carolina.  While surfing the net looking for sights to see, we were perusing the Disney Pins Blog, one of the many blog sites we follow, and saw a story about Pin Trading at the Disney Hilton Head Island Resort.  So we grabbed our lanyards and trading bag and took the opportunity to head down there to meet with wonderful Cast Members and see if there were any new pins that we could pick up. Disney Pin Trading

You see people walking around the Disney parks, decorated like a Christmas tree.  You can’t help but wonder what kind of virus would so adversely affect seemingly normal people.  But there they are, wearing their hobby and passion around their neck.  You don’t understand it:  How someone could become addicted to something so simply blasé.

They are bought, sold, traded, hoarded and collected.  So what are we talking about? Continue Reading →
