EPCOT – Eat to the Beat

A big part of the festivals that arrive at EPCOT is the musical entertainment.  Iconic musicians and groups, along with tribute bands perform their magic for free in the American Pavilion.  The International Food & Wine Festival saw no less than Kenny G, Plain White T’s, 98 Degrees, Mark Wills, Mercy Me, and many other favorites.

Our one night at EPCOT gave us the opportunity to see Air Supply, the Australian duo who broke into the American music scene in the late 1970’s and quickly rose to the top of the charts with popular songs such as “All Out of Love” and “Even the Nights are Better.”

Many of the performers appearing here have been around for a number of years, but we have to say that we were impressed with the vocal strength of this duo.  Their quality is just the same as it has always been and they definitely take you back to younger days.  Air Supply performed their top hits during this mini concert, which makes it very easy to sing along, whether out loud or in your mind.  In the past, we have seen Tiffany (I Think We’re Alone Now), and were introduced to Stayin’ Alive, a Bee Gees tribute band whom we later saw in concert.

This summer’s offerings were Blue October, Tiffany, Mercy Me, Glass Tiger, Tauren Wells, Postmodern Jukebox, Vertical Horizon, Baha Men, Plain White T’s, Living Colour, Sheila E, Sugar Ray, David Cook, Jeffrey Osborne, Jim Belushi & The Sacred Hearts, Everclear, Mark Wills, Air Supply, Anderson East, Sister Hazel, 98 Degrees, 38 Special, The Devon Allman Project, Kenny G, Billy Ocean, Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, Hanson, High Valley, Taylor Dane, Boyz II Men, The Hooters and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.  These concerts last only about 30 minutes, but they are well worth the stop along the tour around the World Showcase Lagoon.

Disney doesn’t provide many “free” things, but when they include top-names in their events without extra charge, the time and money spent is well worth it.  Another reason to visit EPCOT during one of their festivals!  Time is running out on this years’ International Food & Wine Festival, so check the schedule and hurry on out.  If you can’t make it this year, make plans for next year.  You definitely don’t want to miss out, especially if you’re a foodie!
