We felt like we should make a post for this magnificent theater, especially since it is now a Disney property.  The El Capitan Theater was built in 1926 during the “Golden Age of Hollywood,” not as a movie theater, but for stage productions.  Today, it is truly a Grand Movie Palace.

The Great Depression caused it to fall out of favor and change some of its core business to road shows, revues and movies.  In 1941, it had the notoriety of being the only theater to show Orson Wells’ “Citizen Kane.”  The bulding was purchased the next year and Continue Reading →
